Sunday Worship: July 5, 2026 | "Rooted in the Mercy of God"
We continue in the exile-shaped portion of our Rooted readings, turning to Lamentations 3:19–33 and the promise that God’s mercy has not ended. We hear these familiar words from their real setting: not comfort spoken from ease, but hope remembered from the ruins. This passage gives us permission to bring honest sorrow, grief, hard questions, and lament before God without pretending everything is fine. At the center is the biblical idea of hesed (Hebrew)— God’s covenant mercy, faithful love, and kindness that does not walk away. We are invited to see that rooted faith does not deny sorrow, but learns to remember mercy. As we come to Holy Communion, we remember that God’s mercy has come all the way to us in Jesus Christ, who gives himself to us again at the Table.
