Sunday Worship: July 12, 2026 | "The Heart of the Matter: God Gives Life to Hearts of Stone”
From within the wound of exile, God’s people are far from home and wondering whether what has been broken can really be made new. Through Ezekiel, we hear the Lord speak to people whose failure has been exposed and whose hearts need more than encouragement. Again and again, God’s promise begins with “I will” — with what God will do for His people before they can do anything for themselves. A heart can become less responsive to God through sin, disappointment, weariness, pride, or comfort. But the hope of Ezekiel 36 is that God knows how to make stone hearts live. God comes not only to pardon us, but to cleanse us, make us whole, and give us His Spirit so we are not left to follow Him on our own. As we respond, we are invited to ask with tenderness, “How is it with your soul?” and to bring our hearts to the Lord in prayer.
