Worship with us!
This Sunday, we hear Jesus’ parable of the sower and consider the difference between hearing God’s Word and truly receiving it. As we continue our Rooted journey, we are reminded that the goal is not simply to get through the Bible, but to allow the good news of God’s Kingdom in Jesus Christ to get through to us. Like the varied soil familiar to anyone who has tried to plant in East Tennessee, our lives can become hardened, shallow, crowded, or ready to receive what God is sowing. Rather than using the parable to judge the condition of others, we will ask what is happening in the soil of our own hearts and in the shared life of our church. Through worship, Scripture, prayer, Holy Communion, repentance, Christian community, and works of mercy, we make room for God’s grace to deepen and reshape us. We leave with a simple invitation for the week ahead: tend the soil, trust the Sower, and remember that the harvest belongs to God.
